MEET JANELLE SCHANFISH, FNP-C
Janelle was born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois. She graduated from Alleman High School in 2007. She then attended Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences, from which she received her nursing degree in 2010. Janelle began her career as a Registered Nurse at UnityPoint Trinity, formerly Trinity Medical Center, where she had already been working as a Patient Care Tech since 2008. She spent the majority of her nursing career working in the Trinity’s Rock Island Emergency Department.
In 2016, Janelle graduated with Honors, from Walden University, earning her Masters of Science in Nursing degree and became a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She was then given the honorable opportunity to begin her career as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine at UnityPoint Trinity.
Prior to moving to Florida in 2022, Janelle had the privilege of working at Stone Ridge Medical Group, practicing Family Medicine, alongside Dr. James Petre, who Janelle considers to be her career mentor. It was Dr. Jim who taught Janelle the principles of morbidity and mortality risk reduction by being aggressive in the early management of hypertension, obesity, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and hyperlipidemia. Before medically managed weight loss became popular, Dr. Jim was changing the lives of his patients on a daily basis, by offering treatments that were far ahead of their time. Not only did Dr. Jim offer these treatments to his patients, he gave them much more. He gave them the power of education. Dr. Jim had such a passion for helping patients achieve their health goals, he held monthly education sessions, during which he taught patients all about the science of nutrition and its effects on weight loss, weight management, and disease prevention. Janelle was able to take that education and help many patients achieve their overall health and weight loss goals during her 4 years at Stone Ridge Medical Group. It was Dr. Jim's passion for education and the success of her patients that were driving forces for North River Medical Group.
Janelle is the mother of three beautiful children. She is married to her husband Kyle, of 10 years. Together, they cherish spending time with their family and friends.
